Mixed hearing loss

A mixed hearing loss is a combination of “conductive” and “sensorineural” hearing losses.  Mixed hearing loss means that some part of your outer, middle and inner ear is contributing to your hearing loss.  Lansdowne Hearing can help you if you have a mixed hearing loss.  We will examine your ears and develop an audiogram for your loss which will help us to determine how to treat you.

What is mixed hearing loss?

Scenarios where there is both a blockage in the outer ear or issues with the middle ear and losses in the inner ear (cochlea), then you have a mixed hearing loss.  If you drove motorcycles, used chain saws, went to loud concerts or like NASCAR live, you could have a mixed loss.  If you have fluid in your middle ear and a loss due to hair cells in your inner ear, you would have mixed hearing loss.

People that have both a conductive and sensorineural hearing loss have a mixed hearing loss.  When you have this, Lansdowne Hearing can help you hear clearly again if you have a mixed hearing loss.
