Let’s be honest, no one wants to hear ringing sounds that are generated from within your head. This tinnitus ringing is due to “overactive” nerves in your brain typically caused by some type of stress in your life.
90% of people with tinnitus also have a hearing loss. Typically, the hearing loss causes the person to strain which can lead to tinnitus.
Tinnitus solutions start with addressing the hearing loss with hearing aids. Once done, the brain now naturally focuses on environmental sounds instead of internally generated sounds. Next, calming noise therapy programs are added to the hearing aids to allow the client options when they are at home quietly reading a book and the tinnitus ringing returns. Finally, the client needs to try to reduce the stresses or loud noises in their lives.

Johns Hopkins Department of Otolaryngology1 identifies “Hearing Loss” as the most common reason tinnitus occurs. The brain hears the hearing loss and compensates for it by generating a sound. Proper fitting with the appropriate hearing aids to address the hearing loss and then adding tinnitus therapy to the hearing aids will address the tinnitus in most cases.
